IGEL Tech Memories from Sébastien Pérusat – December 2021

Dear IGEL Community,

It’s difficult to speak about 2021 without using the terms pandemic or covid, but I will try to! What a year… 2021 was the first year for me, not being part of the Sales Architecture but in Dougs Team, in the IGEL Community Team, so: your team! I must say that it was different then 2020, obviously not only for me but all of us.

Acting as someone who is a full time IGEL Community Employee was something I was scared of, I had the fear to lose the fun part but it wasn’t, not at all. I’m happier than ever before, and that’s because of all of you. Every question, every challenge, every issue, every fun you shared in 2021 made us even stronger…


So: thank you for all you did and contributed, as small as they could be, they helped us! Now, enough emotions, let’s list some hard facts!


What did IGEL in 2021? Only watching Netflix and ate some Icecream? No..


We released 36 Firmware releases, 6 Regular (without retired ones) and 26 Private Builds

We published 7 Universal Management versions

4 IGEL Cloud Gateways hit the market

We had 116 Feature Proposals (15% already integrated)

We shared 31 Tuesday Tech Tip Videos

We could involved you in 3 Early Access programs (nComputing, Webapp, UX)

We had 10 Meetups

We (IGEL Community Team) 21 Podcasts with Xentegra, thanks to Andy Whiteside and Chris Feeney.

We onboarded 6 Technology Partners coming from IGEL Ready into the IGEL Community tp- channels

    1. Official: 6.09.120. This version of UMS is really important since it includes log4j remediations.

  • As mentioned above, we are adding new Technology Partners all the time. The following partners joined the IGEL Community. Visit them on the IGEL Community on Slack. This month we mostly focused on existing Partners and created a few groups to get them easily integrated into Slack Discussions

New Papers & Videos

  1. IGEL Community Video page: the unpronounceable Tech Tip Tuesday: once a week you will get short 5-10 Min. tutorials related to actual Hot topics coming from the IGEL Community.

  2. I’m recording some short videos on “how to” achieving simple tasks, as GIFs. Please let me know if you need a specific topic

  3. UPDATED: Advanced Services created a Unified Communication in a Box Getting started Guide, explaining how to set up different Unified Communications solutions on our IGEL OS and server-side. Check out the latest best practices there!

  1. Nolt Feature Proposal is live for a couple of weeks now, please check it out! This Feature Proposals Board will not only give you the ability to share your product ideas, but you can vote for existing items. Your votes help us understand which suggestions/ideas are essential to you.
