How to correctly use a PKI certificate for the HTTPS communications of the IGEL UMS Server

Written by: David Seeber, IGEL INSIDER

Just a quick heads up for UMS admins: With the release of UMS 6.06, it's now possible to use your own PKI certificate for the HTTPS communications of the UMS Server. This affects the following:

  • UMS file transfer

  • all WebDAV actions

  • inter-server communication (UMS HA)

  • IGEL Management Interface (IMI)

  • UMS Web App

Although this is a handy feature, you should be careful not to replace the Device Communication certificate by mistake! (see screenshot in the IGEL Community). This certificate is not the same as the Web certificate, and changing it can have severe consequences.

IGEL devices will only work with a device communication certificate, which is correctly generated by the UMS and not from any other PKI.
